Students taking lessons via Barton’s Community Music School will host a recital at 3 p.m. May. 3 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel in the Fine Arts Building. The recital is free and open to the public.
The Barton Community College Library will host a launch party for the 2025 edition of Barton’s literary journal “Prairie Ink” 6-7:30 p.m. April 24 in the Cavanaugh Room in the Barton Library.
The Shafer Art Gallery’s annual “Vortex Day” exhibit and juried art show returned this spring, featuring artwork from high school students around the area featuring over 140 pieces from Great Bend, Central Plains, Hoisington, Larned, and Chase high schools.
Barton Community College will partner with the Kansas Army National Guard on April 8 to provide healthcare students with an exciting experience, which will showcase a military Blackhawk helicopter as well as demonstrations from the pilots and crew highlighting air medical operations and emergency response procedures.
The Shafer Gallery will hold an awards reception and opening reception for the popular “Bart Art” exhibition featuring artwork from Barton faculty, staff, and students at 6:30 p.m. April 11.
Barton Community College invites the community to attend a signing ceremony with Pratt Community College to celebrate their continued partnership at 9 a.m. April 3 in the Plaza De Cavanaugh room (L-116) in the Learning Resource Center.
***CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER*** Barton Community College’s Early Childhood Education Program will host a free family event, “Wheels and Squeals,” from 9 a.m. to noon April 5 to celebrate the national Week of the Young Child.
"Dancing with the Cougars" returns this year with another dance workshop for the community featuring a tango dance class at 6:30 p.m. March 28 in Studio 34, and all proceeds go to support Barton Dance Theatre's trip to Chicago in May.
Area vocalists will have the opportunity to collaborate and learn from University of Kansas Voice Professor Dr. Genaro Mendez as part of his masterclass at 11 a.m. April 11 in the Chapel in the Fine Arts Building, followed by a recital with Barton Guitar Instructor Aleia Gonzalez and Barton Director of Accompaniment Dr. Alejandro Avila from 5-6 p.m.
Barton’s offices will be closed March 20 and 21 for spring break. The college’s regular class schedule and business hours will resume Monday, March 24.
