Barton Community College has a long history of providing affordable and accessible higher education to Barton County for over 50 years, and thanks to a collaborative study with the Docking Institute at Fort Hays State University, the College continues to confirm the economic benefit of the college to the county.
Barton Community College has named 245 students to the President’s List for the fall 2023 semester. To qualify for this honor students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 4.0 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.
Barton Community College has named 314 students to the Dean’s List for the fall 2023 semester. To qualify for this honor, students must have been enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99 on a 4.0 or "A" letter scale.
A major topic of interest in our area, especially with Cheyenne Bottoms and Quivira in our area, is conserving groundwater.
Those wanting to help a great cause and catch some exciting basketball action will have the opportunity to do both as part of Barton’s Phi Theta Kappa Chapter’s Food Drive from 2-5:30 p.m. Feb. 24 in the Kirkman Gym during the Cougar basketball games, and those bringing five items or more will gain free entry.
Barton Community College will host an informational fair about a new statewide education apprenticeship program created by the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) from 6:30-8 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the Cavanaugh Room in the Barton Library, and a virtual fair will be held Feb. 26.
Barton Community College’s Center for Adult Education will soon begin another nine-week session of classes. However, orientation days are required before starting the classes.
Barton Community College will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Kirkman Practice Gym. Donors will receive a $20 Amazon gift card from the American Red Cross.
This past October, an ABC crew from Nightline visited Ellsworth Correction Facility (ECF) to speak with Barton Community College students to learn about their educational journey and highlight the need for Pell Grants for residents.
