The Shafer Gallery will host the “McKown Masquerade Ball” for guests ages 21 and over featuring a costume contest, live music, and hors d'oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Gallery, and the event also serves as a kickoff party for the “Friends and Acquaintances” Community Art Exhibit, which is underwritten by the Bill J. McKown Memorial Endowment and distributed by the Golden Belt Community Foundation.

Get your boots or dancing shoes ready for “Friday Night Line Dancing” class at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 in Studio 34 (located at the south end of campus) and join us for an unforgettable evening of socializing and line dancing for all ages and skill levels.

Christian Rivas wanted real-life experience in law enforcement before he sought to attain his long-time goal of teaching college-level criminal justice. He was able to get that experience at the Great Bend Police Department (GBPD) and now is the instructor/coordinator for the Criminal Justice Program at Barton Community College.

Maddy Hayden-Rideaux is the head coach of the Great Bend High School Dance Team, and she owns Be Dance Studios in downtown Great Bend. She’s truly living her dreams and built a large part of her dancing foundation right in her hometown at Barton Community College.
