Physical Sciences

A degree in Physical Science offer students a well-rounded program of the physical sciences, including coursework in astronomy, chemistry, geology, math, and physics. These students are ready to transfer to a university or enter the workforce with knowledge focused on applying critical problem solving skills and the ability to interpret and analyze data.

Barton STEM Club


Barton STEM Club is open to all students interested in science, mathematics, technology and/or engineering. Activities include helping with Jack Kilby Science Day, Mini STEM Days, plus planning other fun events related to science and technology. Come get Involved! KSU-GEOPaths 

Kansas Groundwater Geopaths consists of a 3-year groundwater study supported via National Science Foundation (NSF) funding. Participants include Kansas State University, Barton Community College, and Dodge City Community College. Detailed information concerning the Geopaths study resides here.

KSU-LSAMP

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation is a National Science Foundation program that assists colleges and universities in diversifying the workforce entering STEM fields by supporting institutions’ efforts to increase the numbers of students that successfully complete baccalaureate degrees in these fields.

The Kansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (KS-LSAMP) promotes recruitment and retention programs throughout Kansas in support of increasing the success of underrepresented minority students (URMs) in STEM fields.

Students Preparing to Transfer
Students Preparing to Transfer

Barton Community College's Physical Sciences curriculum is designed to provide the general education requirement and core Physical Sciences courses for students who plan to transfer to a four year college or university to complete a bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences. Electives must meet the requirements of the transfer institution. Students should coordinate with their advisor for transfer requirements.
