The Third Annual Original Play Series performance is set for 7:30 p.m. on April 25 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free.

Four original plays were selected from the Barton Theatre Department’s Original Playwright Contest. The plays are “A Humbug of A Parody” by Matthew Castle, “Sunday in the Park with Georgie” by Jaime Abel, “Aliens Anonymous” by Kara Grosfield and “Checking Out” by Joseph Doze.

It seems Mother Nature is unsure of what season it is.  Another “bomb cyclone” hit the northern Great Plains and the blizzard conditions are scheduled to clip Northwest Kansas with gusty winds and possible storms for parts of the state.  This is the second bomb cyclone to hit the area in less than thirty. days.  One is somewhat uncommon out here and in a brief period of time even more so.  Today, let’s catch up on some loose ends.

Barton Community College will offer transitioning Fort Carson Soldiers, Veterans and family members with DOD ID cards, a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants.

The Hazardous Waste Worker Training (HWWT) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends. The next course is set from April 29 through May 10 at 5905 MaGrath Avenue BLDG 1282 Fort Carson, Colo.

Barton Community College will be closed on Friday, April 19 and Monday, April 22 for Easter break. Barton's Center for Adult Education and the Shafer Art Gallery will also be closed. The college's regular class schedule and office hours will resume Tuesday, April 23.

Barton Community College’s Community Service Organization (CSO) will host a Career Closet Drive as part of the 12th annual Great Bend Job Fest. The drive will run through April 15.

Enjoy an evening of classical music in the sophisticated ambiance of the Shafer Art Gallery with the Barton Community College Orchestra’s spring concert “Classical Ventures” at 7:30 p.m. April 11. Music by famous composers such as Bach, Mozart and more will be performed. The concert is free and open to the public.
