College Advantage

Earn College Credit at Your High School.  Here's How:

  • On-site classes: taught either by a high school instructor with the College's credentials or by a full-or-adjunct instructor who travels to the high school. See below to find classes at your school!
  • Partnered Online classes: a 100% online college class supervised by a high school mentor.

All classes are offered for college credit when taken, but high schools decide which classes are counted as high school credit.  It is the student's responsibility to double-check with a high school official about dual credit.  Courses vary by high school.  Look for your school below!

Prices for online and on-site classes per partnership below are effective Fall Semester 2023.  Barton County Campus classes are $50/credit hour for Kansas high school students, effective Summer Semester 2023.  Tuition, fees, and scholarships cannot be awarded retroactively.

Are you a teacher at one of our partner high schools (within Barton's service area)? Check out our credential requirements to see if you might be a good fit to join Barton's dual credit team.

Applying to Barton while taking classes in high school?  Start here!

Visit apply.bartonccc.edu to apply.

Helpful notes:

  • Make sure to complete more than just the first page. There are a few pages, and they go beyond your name, email, and password.
  • You will need your SSN or TIN to apply.  Have it ready.
  • If you aren't going to a physical campus location, you can choose Barton Online as your campus.
  • If you are taking classes while in high school, choose "Not seeking a degree or certificate from Barton and transferring."  It cuts out some additional questions that you won't need to answer until after high school graduation.

After you complete your admissions application, you will receive a message to the email address you used to apply that says, "Congratulations on your Acceptance" from Admissions.

Within 12 hours, you will get another email with your MyBarton log-in information.  This message comes from bart@cougar.bartonccc.edu. These messages sometimes go to spam mail folders, so please check those folders if you don't hear back within 48 business hours.

Once you have your sign-in information, you can enroll!

Enrollment Directions:  Visit bartonccc.edu

  • You will be prompted to set up a new password.
  • When you set up authentication on your account, remember that you will not be able to access your cell phone during school hours.  Choose an option that does not require your cell phone.
  • Scroll down until you see the Student Services card
    • Choose Registration
    • Choose Register/Drop/View My Schedule
    • Drop the menu down to Fall 2026
  • If you know your Course Reference Number, choose the “Enter CRNs” tab
    • Type the 5-digit number for your class in the box.
  • Add to Summary
    • It will say "pending."  You MUST click Submit to finalize.
  • Click Submit.

When the progress bars in the bottom right corner turn green, you are registered!

Parent Consent Forms & Important Information
Parent Consent Forms & Important Information

Parent Consent Forms  (Only one per year required)

Barton requires parent consent for high school students to enroll in classes.  This individual also takes financial responsibility for the student’s enrollment.

Please have your parent or guardian complete the Parent Consent Form.  The first two sections are for parents to complete for consent.  The bottom section is the student’s FERPA release to give the College permission to speak to the individuals they include in that section.  A student signature is required there.

Please return to:

Costs of Classes

Partnered Online classes, online classes scheduled specifically for your school, are $50 per credit hour, with all classes earning three credit hours and requiring either low-cost or no-cost textbooks.  Tuition and fees are not due until the end of the semester.

Some online career and technical classes are available tuition-free, thanks to Excel in CTE, a bill that pays for Kansas juniors and seniors with a 2.0 or higher to take certain career and technical education classes tuition-free.  Students only pay materials or textbook costs, if applicable.  Further information about Excel in CTE can be found at ExcelCTE.bartonccc.edu. Many details about this program changed effective Fall 2026.  Please check for details and contact Karly Little with any questions.

Classes in the general online catalog are $75 per credit hour, with most classes earning three credit hours.  Session schedules can be found here:  https://online.bartonccc.edu/sessions
