When Richard LaFlame left high school, he thought he would go to college and travel a traditional educational and career path.  However, after stalling out on his degree at Syracuse, he enlisted in the United States Army and put his education on hold to serve his country as a combat medic. 

Kansas has an abundance of natural beauty and The Shafer Gallery will be celebrating this stunning imagery with its “Kansas Byways” exhibit from Jan. 18 through Feb. 19 with a virtual reception at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18 via facebook.com/shafergallery.

Barton Community College will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12 in the Technical Building in room T-186, the Case New Holland Training area. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks will be required.

The Barton Music Department will be featured as part of a holiday program on KAKE TV on Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. to noon. Selections from the “Virtual Holiday Concert” will be showcased along with other performances from around the state.

All videos for the concert were filmed by Coordinator of Video Julie K. Munden and Public Relations Video Student Employees Aaron Crawford and Payton Steiner, with additional videos by Dance Instructor Danika Bielek and Theatre Technical Director Leon Sobba.

Barton Community College’s Center for Adult Education will soon begin another nine-week GED Preparation Class. However, orientation sessions are required before starting the class. 

Multiple delivery types are available for students to select for orientation.  Students can choose between LiveOnline, Fuzion, or face-to-face sessions. LiveOnline sessions will meet exclusively via Zoom. Fuzion sessions will feature a combination of face-to-face students and Zoom students.
