Barton Theatre will hold auditions for its winter production of “4 A.M. Friends” at 4 p.m. Oct. 11 and 12 at the Crest Theatre in Great Bend.
The performance is a collaboration between Barton Theatre and Great Bend Community Theatre, and both Barton students and community members are encouraged to audition. Those interested only need to attend one audition to be considered for a role.
Barton Theatre is working directly with playwright Charlene Donaghy on the production and will participate in the play’s rolling world premiere. Donaghy is an internationally renowned playwright. She was a finalist for Great Britain’s North American Actors Association Playreading Award, a nominee for the National Partners in American Theatre Playwriting Award, and has captured other various accolades and recognition for her work. “4 A.M. Friends” follows Becca, Tammy, and Kim through six short plays that span their teenage years to their 60s. This trio of friends takes audiences on a journey from the 1970s to the present day while exploring a decades-long friendship as the women fight, argue, support, and love one another through some of life’s most challenging moments.
The production features three female roles, with each character portrayed by two actresses; one will be a Barton student, and one will be a community member. Technical roles will also be cast.
Performances will be Dec. 3-6 at the Crest Theater. Donaghy will also participate in a playwriting workshop during the week of the production, either in person or via Zoom, with additional details to be announced.
