STEM Grants at Barton

Supporting Student Success Through Research & Opportunity

Barton Community College partners with major institutions and national programs to support underrepresented students and expand access to hands-on STEM experiences. Two key initiatives include:

KSU-GEOPaths: Kansas Groundwater Study

This 3-year research initiative, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), focuses on groundwater studies in Kansas. The project is a collaborative effort between Kansas State University, Barton Community College, and Dodge City Community College.

Students gain valuable field research experience while contributing to real-world environmental solutions.

KSU-LSAMP: Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation

Also funded by the NSF, the Kansas LSAMP program supports the recruitment, retention, and academic success of underrepresented minority students (URMs) in STEM fields.

The program promotes pathways to bachelor’s degrees and STEM careers through mentoring, networking, and academic support at institutions across Kansas, including Barton.

These grants provide Barton students with unique opportunities to engage in research, build professional skills, and access valuable academic and career resources.
