The Barton Community College Theatre Department will hold another round of auditions by appointment only for its spring production of “Words and What We Do with Them,” a collection of six plays by David Ives. Virtual auditions will be held from noon to 3:30 p.m. via Zoom and in-person auditions from 4-9 p.m., on Friday January 29 and Saturday January 30 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Auditions will be held for all technical roles including stage managers, light board operator, soundboard operator, and others as well as the following characters:
“Bill” - 16-30, male
“Betty” - 16-30, female
“Milton” - any age, male or female, a monkey
“Swift” - any age, male or female, a monkey
“Kafka” - any age, female, a monkey
“Don” - 20-50, male
“Dawn” - 18-50, female
“Trotsky” - 20-60, male, Russian accent
“Mrs. Trotsky” - 20-60, female, Russian accent
“Ramon” - 16-30, male, Spanish accent
“Jill” - 16-40, female
“Jack” - 16-40, male
“Announcer”
Anyone 16 and older is invited to audition and can be cast in more than one role. Those auditioning must contact Theatre Director Miller James at millerj@bartonccc.edu or (620) 792-9205 to set up an appointment. Once an appointment is set up, an email will be sent with reading materials to be performed during the audition.
Rehearsals will begin Monday, February 1, and will run from 6-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. For social distancing, not all actors will be needed for every rehearsal.
Tickets can be purchased through bartonccc.booktix.com and an announcement will be made when tickets are available.
Showtimes for the production for in-person shows with masks and social distancing will be March 19 at 7:30 p.m., March 20 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and March 21 at 2 p.m. Find the events on Facebook at FB.com/BartonCommunityCollege for updates.
