The Shafer Art Gallery will hold its annual Holiday Open House from 1-3:30 on Dec. 1. A comedic juggling performance by “Jay & Leslie” will be from 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. Holiday-themed refreshments and crafts and a visit from Santa will follow. The Friends & Acquaintances exhibit will also be on display.
Gallery Director Dave Barnes said everyone will enjoy the magical setting of the Gallery during the holidays.
“This time of year we at the Shafer Gallery like to give a nice gift to all the kids and kids at heart living in the Barton County area,” he said. “We love bringing unique experiences to our community so this year we are mixing it up a bit with the ‘Juggling and other Nonsense’ show put on by the comedy duo Jay and Leslie. They have a way with the forces of gravity and never keep you up in the air; at least not for long. It’s a great way to spend quality time with the family, and of course it is always free.”

Barton Planetarium Show “Season of Light”
The Barton Planetarium will host its holiday-themed show “Season of Light” with showings at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 1. The showings are free and open to the public.
The show is an elegant and sophisticated program about the coldest and darkest of seasons; a time which holds some of the warmest and brightest celebrations of the year.
The planetarium is in the college’s Science and Math Building on the north side of campus. Dr. Tim Folkerts, the college’s Planetarium Director, will host the presentations and will be available to answer questions.
