The Barton Theatre Department will present the whimsically magical comedy “Puffs,” by Matt Cox, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26, 27, and 28 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Tickets are $10 and are only available at the door. Children and students with an ID get in for free.

Barton Director of Theatrical Activities Dan Williams said he was inspired to do the show when he took a group of students to see a production of “Puffs” at the Electra Theatre in New York City in 2017.

“We really didn’t know what to expect,” he said. “We were thrilled with this fast-paced, hilarious portrayal of all things that are Harry. We had all read the books, seen the movies, and were huge fans of J. K. Rowling’s characters. From that moment on, it has been on the top of my list of plays I would most like to do.”

Barton sophomore Ashlynn Harrelson plays Megan Jones. She said the show is fun and strange, and she has enjoyed being a part of another Barton Theatre production.

“I’ve loved theatre for a while, and being at Barton has allowed me to be fully immersed in the experience,” she said. “Just being able to have fun with everyone is one of my favorite things in the world.”

Barton sophomore Prince Tsiang plays a satirical version of a very familiar character named “Harry” from other tales of wizard lore.

“I love the fast-paced energy and quick quips this show provides,” he said. “The Barton Theatre group really makes you feel like part of a wild family, which is honestly a great feeling.”

Community cast member Joseph Doze plays several small roles as well as Mr. Voldy.

“This is my type of humor,” he said. “Stupid, nonsensical chaos and lots of room to improvise some jokes.”

Barton Psychology Instructor Eric Smith plays the narrator and said attendees will create lasting memories at this show.

“The audience is in for a hilarious show full of fast-paced humor, and anybody who sees this show will definitely have an awesome time,” he said. “I’ve loved being the narrator of such a funny show with such an amazing cast. They always deliver a fantastic experience.”
