2015 Junior Varsity National Championship Tournament

The Junior Varsity National Championship Tournament was held March 13-15 at Hutchinson Community College.  It was sponsored by Hutchison Community College and Laramie County Community College.

Chase Pumford placed second in Dramatic Interpretation.  Rachel Schloctermeier placed second in Persuasive Speaking and fifth in Informative Speaking.  The team placed first in the Division III Team Sweepstakes, which earned Barton the title of National Champion in its division.

Barton Forensics Coach Bill Sheffield was proud of the way his team competed.

“It was a great weekend for Barton Forensics,” he said.  “We had two individual, national championship runner-ups and a top six finish in Informative Speaking, which allowed us to successfully defend our Division III National Championship.  Despite our small numbers, Barton Forensics holds its own, head-to-head, with any college across the country.  It was a good weekend to be a Cougar.”
