The Prairie Winds Concert Band performs in the fine arts auditorium during the “Autumn Arts” concert earlier this fall.

The Barton Community College Instrumental Music Department will present a pair of exchange concerts with Sterling College at 3 p.m. Oct. 29 at Sterling College, and at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is free for both concerts.

The experience will feature the Prairie Winds Concert Band, directed by Jamie Minneman, and the Sterling College Band, directed by Larry Brownlee. The Sterling College Jazz Band will also perform. The Barton Jazz Band will also perform at the Barton Concert.

“I am so excited for all of these students to get to experience the “Music of the Masters,” she said. “Larry and I will each be conducting three pieces by the greatest wind band composers of all time, including Holst, Vaughan-Williams, Sousa, and others. These are the classics of our genre, and it’s important that our students are exposed to this music.”
