At Barton Community College’s commencement Friday, the Barton Community College Foundation presented the 2026 Distinguished Service Award to Kip and Kelly Spray, dedicated supporters whose longstanding generosity and service have made a meaningful impact on Barton students and programs.
Established in 1981, the Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated genuine regard for and outstanding service to Barton Community College.
Kip Spray, co-owner of Venture Corporation and his wife Kelly have deep ties to the community and a strong belief in the power of education. Venture Corporation has been paving the road to success for generations, and Kip and Kelly carry that same spirit forward through their support of Barton Community College.
Their connection to Barton is rooted in what they see every day.
“Our favorite thing about Barton Community College is its unwavering commitment to students,” they shared. “Barton not only provides education, but also builds confidence, supports personal growth, and helps shape meaningful futures. It’s a place where faculty and coaches genuinely care, creating an environment where students are encouraged to succeed.”
At Barton, their impact is both visible and lasting. The Kip and Kelly Spray Strength Training Center stands as a testament to their commitment to student success, providing student-athletes with a space to grow stronger both physically and mentally.
In addition to their financial support, Kelly served four years on the Barton Foundation Board of Directors, helping guide the Foundation’s work and expand opportunities for students. Together, the Sprays have supported Barton faithfully for many years, giving consistently and stepping forward with significant gifts when needs arise. Their quiet, ongoing generosity has strengthened programs, while their leadership support has helped move important initiatives forward.
For the Sprays, the most meaningful part of their involvement is seeing lives changed.
“What inspires us most is seeing the real impact of education. Lives are being changed, and doors are being opened,” they said. “Both the College and the Foundation make it possible for so many individuals to grow and succeed, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of something that has such a lasting influence.”
They also expressed gratitude for being part of a community that prioritizes education.
“Supporting Barton is meaningful because you can truly see the difference it makes. We are grateful to be part of a community that values education and invests in its students.”
Their service, leadership, and generosity have earned them this distinguished honor. Their continued investment in Barton helps ensure future generations of students have the resources and support they need to succeed. The Foundation is proud to recognize Kip and Kelly Spray with the 2026 Distinguished Service Award.
