Calling all dancers! Barton Community College is hosting the first round of auditions for its dance company, Barton Dance Theatre, from 10-11:15 a.m. March 28 in Studio 34, located in the Sunflower housing units on Barton’s campus.

Dance Theatre Students will have the opportunity to learn what it’s like to work in a dance company setting, perform in diverse venues, attend workshops and see dance concerts live. Students will get to experience the art form of dance in the styles of modern-contemporary, jazz, tap and ballet.

To be considered for company placement, dance students must have at least two years of dance experience and plan to attend Barton in the fall of 2020. Once accepted, students will register for DANC 1001 Barton Dance Theatre (2 credits) meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.

Barton’s Performing Arts Dance Program is offering generous performance scholarships to Barton Dance Theatre members. The dance program is also providing scholarships for students who wish to take other dance classes.

To register or request more information, contact Barton Dance Instructor Danika Bielek at (620) 792-9253 or bielekd@bartonccc.edu.
