The Barton Community College Music Department is excited to announce the spring 2018 musical, “Curtains,” a mystery comedy with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb who wrote music for the highly acclaimed shows “Cabaret” and “Chicago”.

The musical is set during 1959 in Boston, Mass. at a theatre where police detective Frank Cioffi attends the opening night of a musical when during the curtain call the star of the show, Jessica Cranshaw, is murdered. It is up to Cioffi to solve the case and save the show.

Auditions are open to everyone and will be held from 4-8 p.m. on December 5 and 6 and from 2-4 p.m. on December 10 in the Barton Fine Arts Auditorium. The show is set for March 9-11.

Audio files and cuttings from the score and script will be available at theatre.bartonccc.edu for auditionees to prepare. Those who wish to audition should come prepared to demonstrate their vocal range, sing the excerpts specific to their interest, read a cutting from the script and learn and perform a short movement sequence. Ages 16 and up are encouraged to audition.
