The Barton Art Department and the Shafer Art Gallery will host a free ceramics workshop featuring visiting artist Christina Lamoureaux from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15.  The workshop titled “Make a Creature From Paper-Clay,” will begin with a brown bag lunch and artist talk followed by demonstrations of Christina’s lyrical hand-building style with paper clay and encaustic (wax) painting techniques in the art department’s ceramics studio. Participants will then make a creature out of paper-clay and experiment with encaustic painting.

Lamoureaux’s work is currently on display at the Shafer Gallery as part of the “Pulse of the Prairie” exhibit through Feb. 18.  For more information on her work visit christinalamoureaux.com.

The Shafer Art Gallery’s normal hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
