Barton Community College Plumbing Instructor Jeff Meyer was recently recognized as a 2026 Western Region Skilled Trades Instructor Honoree at the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Kansas Skilled Trades Instructor Conference.

The conference brought educators from across Kansas together to connect, share ideas, and strengthen skilled trades education statewide. As part of the event, instructors were recognized for their contributions to preparing students for careers in the skilled trades.

Meyer began his career at Barton serving students through the Building Academic Skills in Correctional Settings (BASICS) program at Larned State Correctional Facility before transitioning to teach the Plumbing program on the Barton County Campus.

Barton Vice President of Instruction Elaine Simmons said Meyer's dedication to students and commitment to excellence are what make him deserving of the recognition.

“From the time Jeff joined the Barton family to serve students through the BASICS program at Larned State Correctional Facility to his transition to teaching the Plumbing program on the Barton County Campus, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to providing a quality learning experience and exceptional service,” she said. “He has earned this recognition, and we are proud to celebrate his accomplishment.”
