When Barton Community College launched the Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative in 2018, the goal was to offer a full degree using the OER framework; that goal will become a reality this fall with the availability of the Low-Cost Degree Pathway.

As members of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society, Barton students have the opportunity to celebrate their academic achievements, but they also spend their time volunteering and finding ways to help others and this “May Day,” they’ve done just that by preparing “May Day Baskets” for those who could benefit from the uplifting tradition.

The drought monitor report as of April 9 is showing conditions moving from no dryness to abnormally dry for much of Southwest Kansas and we are still mostly abnormally dry. Moderate drought is expanding in the central part of the state.
