Barton Music Department to host free Instrumental Concert

Barton Community College’s Prairie Winds Concert Band will present a fall concert featuring music from around the world at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

The band will be performing music from various artists from across the globe. One of the artists that will be featured is George Gershwin. Gershwin was made famous for “Rhapsody in Blue” which was featured in Disney’s “Fantasia 2000”. The band will also be playing marches, overtures and orchestral transcriptions.

The band is made up of high school students, college students and adults from the area. They rehearse once a week and play a variety of music. Barton Director of Instrumental Activities Steven Lueth will direct the concert. This concert is free and open to the public.
