Did you know that the automotive repair industry is one of the largest providers of employment among all service industries in the United States?  In fact, there are many rewarding jobs to be found in independent shops and automotive dealerships; good paying jobs, such as service technician, parts specialist, and service advisor.  If you’re curious to learn which automotive job is right for you, answer the following questions; then learn why Barton remains the best choice for all your training needs.

If you answered yes to any two or more of these questions, then a career as an automotive service technician is right for you!  Automotive service technicians diagnose repair and service automobiles and light trucks.  Most technicians specialize in a specific area of the automobile according to particular skill or interest; however those that acquire the skills to work on all systems of the automobile earn the title of master technician.   Average salary for auto service technicians range from $20,000 – $65,000 according to years of experience and specialty.

Parts specialists and service advisors possess excellent people skills, are familiar with the various systems of the automobile, and are typically very good with computers.  Parts specialists make certain technicians receive the correct parts.  They also maintain parts inventory; ensuring  smooth operation of the service department. Service advisors communicate the customer need to the technician; they issue repair orders, create estimates and total customer invoices.  A good service advisor is able to relay technical information from the technician to customer in a way that is easy to understand.  They are typically well organized and are able to multitask.   Wages for parts specialists range from $20-45,000 depending on experience and location.  Wages for service advisors range from $20-$65,000 depending on experience and location.
